SUNDAY SKATE SCHOOL BASICS

What is USFS Basic Skills?

United States Figure Skating is the governing body of ice skating.  USFS sets the Basic Sills curriculum for ice skating group lessons around the country.

How do I know which class is right for my child?

Skaters who have never taken lesson before must register for the following classes:
Ruby Club Snowplow Sam:  Ages 4 through 7
Ruby Club Basic 1:  Ages 8 through 12
Opal Teen Club Basic 1:  Ages 13 and up

Skaters who have previous lesson experience may be evaluated by the program director prior to the start of the session.

What is the purpose of 'testing' at the end of the session?

The test structure is a ladder of proficiency tests designed to encourage skill development and measure of skill
mastery.  Basic Skills tests are completed at the end of each session and participants are rewarded with a patch upon
completion of their level.
